gilded cage, golden cage

With Wings

Moist breathing and a jolly face,

mind like a sieve, but heart like a glass;

I stand firm amidst the gushing winds of change.

I protested your love,

I fought against that tender embrace;

Broke free like a bird leaves a golden cage,

that cage- the only walls I had once found beautiful,

the only horizon I knew.

Harsh winds heavy on the soft wings.

Trembling and shattered, scared and anxious I flutter my lifeless wings.

Crossing societal boundaries, killing the fear of being lost in crowded towns,

fear of getting trapped in the dark alleys, fear of being caught again.

But I fight on and I will fly on;

for the taste of first flight is a bliss.

flight, freedom, free will, choice, experience
